WHAT IS VALUES?

the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

In ethics and social sciences, value denotes the degree of importance of some thing or action, with the aim of determining which actions are best to do or what way is best to live, or to describe the significance of different actions.

DEFINITION OF VALUES EDUCATION

Values education refers to the aspect of the educational practice which entails that moral or political values as well as norms, dispositions and skills grounded in those values are mediated to or developed among students.

Values education can be referred to as explicit or implicit. Whereas explicit values education refers to schools’ official curriculum of what and how to teach values and morality, including teachers’ explicit intentions and practices of values education, implicit values education is associated with a hidden curriculum and implicit values influence, embedded in school and classroom practices. Teaching is inevitably a moral activity in which teachers have to consider the ethical complexity of teaching and the moral impact they have on their students.

Values education is the process by which people give moral values to each other. According to Powney et al. It can be an activity that can take place in any human organization.

UNIVERSAL VALUES

value is a universal value if it has the same value or worth for all, or almost all, people. Spheres of human value encompass moralityaesthetic preferencetraitshuman endeavour, and social order. Whether universal values exist is an unproven conjecture of moral philosophy and cultural anthropology, though it is clear that certain values are found across a great diversity of human cultures, such as primary attributes of physical attractiveness (e.g. youthfulness, symmetry) whereas other attributes (e.g. slenderness) are subject to aesthetic relativism as governed by cultural norms. This objection is not limited to aesthetics. Relativism concerning morals is known as moral relativism, a philosophical stance opposed to the existence of universal moral values.

Value for me is something that we valued, something that are important to us. In terms of Values Education it has something to do with our curriculum. Its all about moral development, culture development, social development and many more that are essential in our daily lives on how we will be able to grow as a person.

What do I Value most in life?

My family is the most valuable in my life specifically my two beautiful daughter. They are my source of strength in time i feel tired. Their hugs and kisses every time I go home make me comfortable and lessen my problem. My parents also are always there to help and support me in times I need their helping hands and guidance. They are my support system to my kids  in times I am busy with school activities. My family are not perfect the way I want it but I am happy and lucky to have them.
